Thesis (B/M): Experimental Study of Fuel Staging for Nitrogen Oxide Reduction

The Sulzbach-Rosenberg branch of the Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety, and Energy Technology (Fraunhofer UMSICHT) develops process engineering solutions in the fields of carbon conversion (next-generation biofuels, recycling technologies for plastics and composite materials, biochar), low-emission combustion and heating technology, and the generation and storage of process heat. With a focus on process engineering and plant construction, it supports clients from the initial project concept through pilot plants and demonstrators all the way to market launch. In the FlexNOx-Demo project, fuel staging is being developed and tested at a biomass combustion plant with the goal of reducing nitrogen oxides. To this end, experiments are being conducted with a wide variety of feedstocks.
