The experimental work involves developing new test geometries to study void nucleation under a wide range of stress states, using a combination of mechanical testing and advanced X-ray computed tomography (CT) in both interrupted and in situ test setups. Initial studies will be carried out using in-house microCT facilities and later extended to synchrotron experiments in collaboration with national and international partners. The experimental results will be used to develop improved models for void nucleation within continuum damage mechanics frameworks, suitable for implementation in finite element simulations of material failure. These models will be applied to study the ductile-to-brittle transition in HSLA steels.QualificationsRequirements • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made. • In addition to your scientific skills and pedagogical ability, a relevant doctoral thesis, international experience and proficiency in English as it is needed in the daily work • We are seeking a highly motivated and team-oriented postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in experimental and computational fracture mechanics.
