Job Description:
We are seeking an OpenBMC Engineer to join our MCTP team. In this role, you will design, develop, integrate, and debug firmware features within the OpenBMC ecosystem, with a strong focus on MCTP (Management Component Transport Protocol) and related management interfaces. You will work closely with hardware, firmware, validation, and platform teams to deliver robust out-of-band management solutions for next-generation server platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain OpenBMC firmware components related to MCTP and platform management.
• Implement and debug MCTP transport, discovery, routing, endpoint management, and related control flows.
• Work with D-Bus, Yocto, systemd, and Linux-based embedded software stacks.
• Integrate support for platform management protocols such as: MCTP over SMBus / I3C / PCIe / USB when required
• Investigate and resolve issues across firmware, kernel, device tree, drivers, and user-space services.
• Collaborate with hardware and validation teams to bring up new platforms and debug board-level issues.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code and contribute to code reviews.
• Develop test plans, support validation, and improve automation for firmware verification.
• Participate in root-cause analysis and provide long-term fixes for product issues.
• Support release integration, regression analysis, and production readiness activities.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong experience in embedded Linux development.
• Hands-on experience with OpenBMC or similar BMC firmware stacks.
• Good understanding of MCTP and related management protocols.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and scripting languages such as Python or Shell.
• Familiarity with Yocto Project, build systems, and Linux package integration.
• Experience with D-Bus, services, and inter-process communication in Linux.
• Ability to debug issues using logs, traces, bus analyzers, kernel messages, and hardware tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of I2C/SMBus, I3C, PCIe, GPIO, UART, and embedded platform bring-up.
• Experience contributing to upstream open-source projects.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, automated testing, and regression infrastructure.
• Prior experience supporting server OEM or hyperscaler platforms.
