NVIDIA’s Autonomous Vehicles team builds the software platform that brings assisted and autonomous driving to production vehicles. The team works across the vehicle stack, from on-vehicle system software to the tools and infrastructure used to develop, update, secure, and operate that software at fleet scale. Engineers collaborate with internal product teams and automakers to turn new capabilities into reliable and secure software for production vehicles.
We are looking for a System Software Engineer Intern to contribute to in-vehicle system software. The work includes data collection, software updates, diagnostics, connectivity, and cybersecurity, along with AI-assisted tools that help engineers work with vehicle data. You will participate in design, implementation, testing, and debugging with guidance from experienced engineers.
NVIDIA is a “learning machine” that continuously evolves by tackling important problems that are difficult to solve. We are widely recognized as one of the technology industry’s most desirable employers. If you are curious, self-motivated, and enjoy building reliable software, we would love to hear from you.
What you’ll be doing
• Implement and test in-vehicle system software, primarily in C/C++.
• Help improve the reliability, performance, and security of software that runs on the vehicle and exchanges data with NVIDIA systems.
• Contribute to tools that help engineers develop, debug, validate, and operate that software, including AI-assisted tools.
• Integrate software on vehicle platforms and help reproduce and debug issues with global engineering teams.
• Document designs, test results, and findings from technical investigations.
What we need to see
• Currently pursuing a BS or MS or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• Strong C or C++ programming skills.
• Familiarity with operating systems, networking, and data structures.
• Understanding of fundamental software security concepts.
• Ability to debug unfamiliar code and build working prototypes.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate with an international team.
Ways to stand out from the crowd
• Experience with data processing, telemetry, or software update systems.
• Experience with AI-assisted developer tools, machine learning, language models, or agentic systems.
• Coursework or projects involving embedded systems, Linux, networking, cybersecurity, or applied AI.
• Experience with messaging systems.
• Interest in automotive software, robotics, or autonomous systems.
