Note: All job offers are contingent upon Human Resources final approval Job Description: This recruitment will be used to fill 60 part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Special Event positions for the KidSpirit Youth Organization at Oregon State University (OSU). Typically, this position is incorporated with staff that are hired for KidSpirit primary school year gymnastics and swimming positions. There may be only 2 people that are hired for special events only throughout the school year. The Youth Program Instructor is responsible for delivering high‑quality instruction to youth while fostering a safe, supportive, and growth‑oriented environment. The position requires strong communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and a commitment to ongoing professional development. Responsibilities include lesson planning, safety response, equipment management, program promotion, and effective collaboration with staff, families, and supervisors. This position facilitates community events for KidSpirit, it includes non-school day camps birthday, marketing duties, archery, gymnastics, art activities and much more. OSU–KidSpirit | Extension and Engagement | Oregon State University Position Duties • Responsible for leading specialized activities for children during but not limited to: birthday parties, event childcare and ACES (Activities Create Excitement on non-School days) while promoting skill development, preparing and implementing lesson plans, providing feedback, maintaining safe learning environment, and assisting other instructors and camp counselors. • At times this will require the student employee to go to different campuses, community events, community centers and / or travel to venues. • Support the head instructor in maintaining an instructional environment focused on mastery/success of sport/activity, emotional safety, and providing a positive and caring environment for youth or head instruct activities. • Plan, prepare, and implement appropriate age lessons and activities that support participant growth and engagement. • Maintain accountability for all youth in assigned areas, ensuring consistent supervision and responsive care. • Monitor participant safety always and administer first aid when necessary. • Attend required orientation sessions, program meetings, and in-service training. Required • Current, valid First Aid certification by the start of programming. This can be done during this hiring process. • Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect (RRCAN) certification by start of programming. • Introduction to Child Care Health & Safety certification by start of programming. • Fundamentals of Learning • OSU Youth Safety and Compliance requirements, standards of behavior and mandatory reporting training.This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Working Conditions/Schedule: Most of the programming takes place in Langton Hall on OSU campus. This position does go to community events throughout Corvallis, Albany and the State of Oregon.
