Research engineer in experimental aerodynamics for turbomachineryKTH Royal Institute of Technology, School of Industrial Engineering and Management
Job descriptionDivision of Heat and Power Technology at the Department of Energy Technology is seeking a Research Engineer to conduct research within the Vinnova-funded projects “Impact of INlet DIstortion on the AEROdynamic and AEROelastic characteristics of an axial compressor stage (INDIAERO)” and “AI Supported Adaptive Manufacturing (AISAM)”. The projects address two important aspects affecting the aerodynamic and aeromechanical performance of fan and compressor blades in aero-engines: blade erosion and inlet flow distortion. Leading-edge erosion can increase aerodynamic losses and consequently fuel consumption. At the same time, aero-engines are frequently exposed to non-uniform inlet flow conditions due to intake geometry and varying flight conditions. These distortions can affect both aerodynamic performance and aeroelastic stability, potentially leading to phenomena such as flutter and high-cycle fatigue. Reliable methods for assessing these effects are still under development and constitute an active area of international research. High-quality experimental data are essential for the development and validation of such methods. The work will include the development and design of experimental test setups, detailed aerodynamic measurements, and the analysis and comparison of experimental and numerical results. The position involves close collaboration with the industrial partners participating in the projects. In addition to research activities, the position may include teaching and other education-related activities corresponding to up to 10% of the working time..QualificationsInstructions: The following knowledge and skills must be incorporated into the employment profile under the headings "requirements" or "preferred qualifications"
