What you will do
Over the past decade, the microbiome has emerged as a key player in human health and disease. At OnePlanet, we’ve already made major progress in understanding gut physiology through our ingestible pill. Building on this platform, we now aim to go a step further, to sense microbial activity itself. Join our team and help us turn groundbreaking science into real-world health solutions. Contribute to the further development of our innovative microbiome sensor. Design, test, and validate sensor principles and measurement protocols. Integrate biochemical techniques with advanced fluorescence detection methods. Work hand-in-hand with OnePlanet’s ingestible engineering teams. Collaborate closely with our biochemistry partners at Radboud University. You will work at the forefront of ingestible sensor development, advancing our understanding of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. By exploring the role of the microbiome and host–microbe interactions, your work will contribute to improving human health and enabling the development of new therapeutics. Join a diverse and multidisciplinary team of experts from both biological and technical backgrounds who will guide and support your research. Engage with the broader OnePlanet and imec community of scientists and innovators, expanding your knowledge and professional network. Collaborate in shaping the next generation of sensors that push the boundaries of health technology.
What we do for you
OnePlanet Research Center is a multidisciplinary collaboration between Wageningen University & Research (WUR), Radboud University, Radboud UMC and nano-technology world-player imec. Your work will not only be of academic relevance, but is translated to practical applications where possible. You will be part of a team where everyone has different backgrounds and subjects of expertise, which makes it fun to exchange perspectives and to work together.
Who you are
You are a master’s student in biochemistry, medical technology, or a related field. You are creative and capable of independently designing and executing laboratory experiments. You are available for an internship of approximately 6 months. You have a motivated, hands-on attitude and are eager to explore new scientific and technological fields. You are a team player who enjoys working in a multidisciplinary environment. You are legally entitled to do an internship in the Netherlands.
