We are excited to offer an outstanding opportunity for a Manufacturing Automation Solution Intern - 2027 to join our world-class team at NVIDIA! This role is perfect for an ambitious individual looking to make a significant impact in the field of industrial automation and Physical AI. This role involves leading efforts in industrial automation and Physical AI with Omniverse by NVIDIA and OpenUSD frameworks. You will transform complex physical automation equipment, test cells, and robotic systems into accurate digital twins. You will collaborate with mechanical, test, and software groups to develop the future of industrial production based on Omniverse. If you are enthusiastic about 3D graphics, physics simulation, robotics, and bringing code to life with kinetic motion, this role is an excellent platform to begin your career. What you will be doing: • Clean up, lightweight, and render industrial CAD models into the NVIDIA Omniverse platform, building standardized, high-fidelity OpenUSD 3D digital assets. • Define OpenUSD asset standards (scene hierarchy, PhysX materials, semantic schemas) for automated equipment in Omniverse, opening them to ecosystem partners to build a unified asset ecosystem. • Establish virtual testing and interference review standards in Omniverse; evaluate facility footprint and maintenance limits, directing vendors to deliver compliant scenes and equipment models within Omniverse. • Formulate simulation and Cycle Time (CT) demo examples and evaluation standards for axis/robotics in NVIDIA Isaac Sim / PhysX. This drives vendors to improve CT and remove efficiency bottlenecks virtually in Omniverse. • Define communication interface standards (OPC UA/Modbus) using Omniverse Python APIs. Connect the equipment software platform with controllers. Guide vendors to plug into Omniverse for Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) commissioning. • Build digital twin reference implementations by ingesting real-time sensor and machine telemetry data into NVIDIA Omniverse. Establish standardized technical frameworks and API guidelines to empower and guide vendors in replicating live 3D sync and supervising across their own equipment. • Fully bring to bear NVIDIA Omniverse technologies and ecosystem capabilities to translate Physical AI into real-world industrial efficiency, exploring emerging business models for digital twins in automation. What we need to see: • Currently pursuing a degree (BS or MS) in Computer Science, Automation, Robotics, Mechatronics, Software Engineering, or a related technical domain. • Strong Python programming skills (Required; ability to write clean, object-oriented scripts and APIs). Familiarity with Linux environments and common industrial communication protocols (e.g., OPC UA, Modbus, TCP/IP) is preferred. • Practical experience with at least one 3D simulation or game engine (e.g., NVIDIA Omniverse, Isaac Sim, Unreal Engine, Unity) or 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, NX, Blender, etc.). • Excellent analytical problem-solving skills; strong cross-functional communication approach to collaborate effectively with mechanical engineers, omniverse developers, and third-party equipment vendors. • Skilled in both Chinese and English, capable of independently guiding and engaging in technical business discussions in English. Ways to stand out from the crowd: • Practical experience working directly with NVIDIA Omniverse and its essential ecosystem components, including Isaac Sim (robotics & automation simulation). • Familiarity with Pixar OpenUSD structures is a strong plus. • Familiarity with industrial control software or automation equipment software is preferred. • Practical project experience in software/hardware communication setup via OPC UA, Modbus-TCP, MQTT, or WebSockets; familiarity with Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) virtual commissioning workflows. • Strong engineering standardization approach with the ability to distill reference implementations from practical projects. Write structured API documentation and standard specifications. Empower external vendors and ecosystem partners. Join us at NVIDIA and help build the future of industrial automation with innovative technology!
