Positioned at the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, the Department of Clinical Neurosciences is leading medical discovery into neurosciences. Our mission is both profound and urgent: to improve the lives of people with neurological illness and injury through discovery, innovative treatments and training of the next generation.
We are seeking a Senior Accounts Clerk to join our professional services finance team at an exciting time as we move towards a new finance system. This is a varied and important role supporting the day-to-day financial administration of a large, research-active department, including purchasing, accounts payable and receivable, research grants, general ledger activity, financial record keeping and support for finance system users.
Working closely with the Finance Manager, Finance Coordinator and Grants Coordinator, you will help ensure that finance processes are accurate, timely and compliant with University procedures. The role will involve liaising with colleagues across the Department, the School and central University teams, as well as supporting activity connected with the Wolfson Brain Imaging Centre (WBIC), a major research facility.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in a busy accounts environment who enjoys working with detail, solving practical problems and providing helpful, responsive support to others. You will contribute to clear and compliant financial administration across a complex portfolio of activity, including research funding, core budgets, donations, and operational accounts.
We are looking for a well-organised and proactive individual with strong communication skills, good attention to detail and confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and SharePoint.
You will be comfortable managing competing deadlines, working as part of a supportive team and building positive working relationships with academic, research and professional services colleagues. Experience of University finance systems, iProcurement or Oracle Fusion would be helpful, but a flexible approach and willingness to learn are equally important.
Informal enquiries about the position can be submitted by email to Hanli Schmidt, Finance Coordinator, hv268@cam.ac.uk
We welcome applications from individuals who wish to be considered for part-time (minimum 0.6 FTE) working or other flexible working arrangements.
